Introduction to Family Constellations for Counsellors and Therapists

A one-day experiential workshop in Glasgow

with Liz Sleeper

Family Constellations offers a powerful way of understanding how family and systemic dynamics can shape our clients’ lives — often beneath conscious awareness.
For counsellors and therapists, developing a *systemic lens* can reveal new layers of meaning in clients’ stories, help locate the roots of repeating patterns, and open fresh pathways for healing.

This one-day workshop provides an experiential introduction to Family and Systemic Constellations for counsellors, psychotherapists, and helping professionals living in Glasgow and surrounding areas.

What We’ll Explore

Morning – Introduction and Core Concepts

The background and theory of Family Constellations
Two key principles: *Embodied Experience* and the *Systemic Lens*
The difference between the *personal* and *systemic* realms
How a systemic perspective can enrich and support your therapeutic work

Experiential learning
Through a series of gentle, embodied exercises we will explore:

You and your client:* finding the right distance
Personal vs Systemic realms:* when an issue may have roots beyond the individual
Transgenerational patterns:* how ancestral trauma and exclusion can echo through generations

Afternoon – Full Constellation Experience
In the afternoon, participants will be invited to take part in a full constellation — either as an *issue-holder* or as a *representative* within another person’s constellation.
Representatives often find that participating in someone else’s constellation brings valuable personal insights, sometimes exactly what is needed in their own life or practice.

Who the Workshop Is For

This workshop is open to:

* Counsellors and psychotherapists (qualified or in training)
* Anyone interested in bringing a systemic understanding into their therapeutic work

No prior experience of constellation work is required. Curiosity and openness are all that’s needed.
